Rwanda Humure washed, 250 g – filter

The Humure processing station is located in the Gatsibo district of the Eastern Province, characterized by sandy-clay soils. It is named after the highest hill in the area, which is a popular tourist destination.

The Humure station is owned by Emmanuel Rutsatr, the head of the family business Baho Coffee, which currently has 12 processing stations across the country. Emmanuel has extensive experience in this field, as he previously worked for a coffee export company. The name “Baho” comes from a phrase meaning “to stay strong.” Over 1,300 coffee producers from the district use the station, which is managed entirely by women.

The local government provides resources to Humure, while its management organizes training sessions for farmers on how to use these resources effectively.

The main goal of this method is to remove the pulp from the coffee beans immediately after harvesting.

Once harvested, the cherries are received at the station, and processing begins the following morning. The coffee is sent to the mill for washing and thoroughly mixed. Cherries that float to the surface (floaters) are discarded, as they signal damage or defects in the beans. The next step involves removing the pulp from the beans using specialized equipment called a depulper. Afterward, the beans are dried in guardiola until the moisture content reaches 12%.

The beans are stored in parchment for one to two months. Before export, they are cleaned using a huller.
