This coffee comes from El Zapote farm, located in the community of Pueblo Viejo, Perquín, in the Morazán Department, within the Cacahuatique Mountain Range coffee region in northeastern El Salvador. The name of the mountain range translates to “hill of cacao gardens.” The indigenous Lenca people have traditionally cultivated cacao, fruit trees, and coffee in this region. However, military conflicts in the late 20th century and coffee leaf rust have reduced production, with the region now accounting for just 4% of the national harvest.

The area is characterized by clay soils. The climate is tropical, with an average temperature of 25°C and annual rainfall of 1100 mm. The coffee produced here typically features a creamy body, medium acidity, and caramel sweetness. Ancient forests still cover parts of the region, and local farmers grow coffee trees in their shade.
